Slugcity Webblogs
Have you ever wanted to own your own webblog? Want to get on the webblog craze? Now is the time!!!
Express yourself thru your weblog, get heard, let your voice reach billions (ok, but they have to click to reach you)!!!
First, what's is a weblog? The perfect example of a weblog is the front page of slugcity.com. Somewhere you can post your daily thoughts, jokes, ramblings, etc, whatever you want to put on there. What software does it use? It uses www.moveabletype.org as the software that helps you publish your weblog. It's very easy to login, write what is on your mind, place a category on it and publish it! Even if your not very computer savvy, you can set up your weblog.
So how do you get one? You can post a comment to this story or e-mail me directly and I'll set your weblog up and get you thru the first couple of posts and configuration screens.
Your blog website address would be http://www.slugcity.com/blog/nameofblog/ so if your name of the blog was joe handcock, the web address would be http://www.slugcity.com/blog/joehandcock/. If you already have a web or e-mail account thru slugcity and want to use that space for your weblog, we can adjust your blog to point to your home directory.
Your data is backed up to another server everyday in the early AM, so you would not lose any posts if the server crashed!!! I'm going to try and do this, and I think it will work rather well. If your interested, give me a shout!!!

Slugcity.com E-mail Accounts
All who have e-mail accounts thru slugcity.com please read the following :
I've been tracking logins for the past 3 months, and noticed most of you have not logged into your e-mail account since it was created. If you don't check your e-mail, it wastes space on the server. Passwords will also need to be changed every 120 days thru the e-mail system.
On July 1st, the following policy will be put in place for e-mail accounts :
All e-mail accounts must be logged into every 120 days or they will be disabled. After 150 days they will be deleted for good. You must wait 6 months to be granted another e-mail account.
If you have not logged into your e-mail account by July 1st, it will be disabled. If you do not request it to be active again, and do no log into it, it will be deleted on Aug 1st.
Also, slugcity.com e-mail will have a new look over the summer. This new system will allow us to force you to change your password every 120 days for security reasons and will allow more features and upgrades to you.
If you have any questions, please send me a e-mail and I'll answer your questions.
If you would like an e-mail account, give me an e-mail and we can arrange for an account to be created.

Slugcity.com's New Look and Shoutbox
Slugcity.com now has a new look we are trying out here. As you can see the links are now on the left hand side, so don't be clicking on the right side, cause you won't find them there.
We also added a new feature here at slugcity, which is the shoutbox. You can leave your comments, thoughts or rants on the shoutbox for others to see and respond to. The shoutbox is on the left hand side inside the blue box. You do not need to supply a web address, but you do need a name and message for the shoutbox to post your comment.
We are not using this for comments about stories posted on slugcity.com. Please post your comments the normal way under each story or blog post. Slugcity.com also reserves the right to delete any shoutbox comment posted on the site.
What do you think about the new look or the shoutbox? Leave your comments in the usual place.

Slugcity.com Website Maintenance April 18th
I'm going to be doing some maintenance on the forum and the webserver on Sunday April 18th. After I complete this maintenance, if you go to the slugcity forum, it's going to ask you for your user name and password again. Please enter in your username and password. You will not have to enter in your information again if you say "remember me" because a cookie will be saved on your computer.
If you do not know your password, please go to the resend validation e-mail screen and have your password sent to you. You can then login with your username and password after I complete the maintenance on Sunday April 18th.
You can also have the forum send your password to you at anytime by going to the resend validation e-mail screen. When you log in with your password, it will not ask you to reset it like some forums do.
Some of the websites on slugcity.com could also be down during the maintenance period, so if you have trouble getting on the site, try back at a later time.
If you have any questions, or problems logging in, please send me an e-mail or place a comment on the blog and I'll respond.

Slugcity Picture Gallery Mirror Is Up
We have installed a mirror (exact copy) of slugcity.com on a faster connection to help the picture gallery webpages load faster.
Thanks to the connection at Jaywalker's house, which is really fast, your able to look at the pictures a little bit faster with some smarts in the software.
Does the picture gallery load quicker now?

Slugcity.com 500th comment
It's official.....Slugcity.com had it's 500th comment posted.
Unfortunately, it was not a slug, snail, Krue, or Rolla person who posted it. However, it's so damn funny, I felt mentioning it was necessary.
So what was the comment? Well, to those that don't realize, slugcity gets "hits" by several search engines from people searching for various information. Try a search on google for "Metallica Icon", or just go here (I've done the typing for you). Yes, that's right, if you search the internet for "Metallica Icon", our entries on Slugcity.com are more relavant (to a search engine anyway) than even MTV.com.
Anyway.....so it seems there are many people out there who are interested in a small post that I made entitled "Lesbians Against Bush" and it's still getting comments from a few carpet munchers out there.

A couple of weeks ago, our trusty government rolled out the national do not call list. If your annoyed by phone calls during your orgy, or fetish sessions, you might want to put your name on it.

Since Slugcity's creation on April 18, 2002 we have made many milestones. Below are a few to name :

March 3, 2003 - Slugcity chat was created
May 23 - 26, 2003 - SLUGFEST 2k3!!!
May 28, 2003 - Slugcity Photo Album
And now June 28, 2003 - Slugcity forum is launched!!!!!
The Slugcity bulletin board forum is a place where we can create topics, talk about events and vent somewhere other than the main site. Slugcity Forum is going to be less formal and open to anything.
You can see forums are already created, if you think of any other forums that need to be created, please post a comment.
This forum is not to take the place of the blog your reading now. You will always need to check the main site to get news and information about upcoming events, or to get a good laugh.
Note that you will need to create a user account to post to the Slugcity Forum. You will need to remember your account name and password for future use.
This bulletin board system has many useful features like a calendar, a messaging system and forum moderation. There is a slight learning curve with this BB, so be patient. Once you figure it out, you'll be amazed how easy it is to find new posts you have not see yet and how to get around the site.

Iraq Satellite Images
Check out this website of satellite imagery of different places in and around Iraq before and after the bombing. You can see the destruction of the presidential palaces and different government buildings inside the center of Baghdad. In the later dated images, there is a brown haze over the pictures probably due to sand storms in the past couple of weeks.

Also, Coalition forces have taken over Saddam International Airport and have started to roll into Baghdad.

Iraq and 48 Hours
Tonight Pres. Bush announced to the world that Saddam has 48 hours starting 7pm CDT to leave Iraq or be forced from power and face war.
Bush also says Iraq did not try and destroy weapons of mass destruction during UN inspections over the prior months.
US will probably raise the terror alert level if we go to war in the next couple of days.
Do you think the US should pose this ultimatum to Iraq and wage war?

Saddam has until 7pm CDT March 19th to leave Iraq or face war.
