There are over 650 pictures, but there is only about 15MB of pics, so getting thru them will not be as bad as I thought.....

I did not make captions for them since there were so many, but you can make up your own funny captions while you look at them...

Slugfest 2004 is over

Another Slugfest in the record books.

Thanks to everybody who came, cooked, cleaned, helped out in any way to make the weekend an enjoyable one. We'll do it again next year!

If you have some ideas on how to make Slugfest 2005 better than this year, head over to the forum in the Slugfest 2004 topic and post your ideas. We have plenty of people over there still talking about Slugfest 2004!

Looks like it might be a rainy weekend, but as we saw last year, they forcasted sunny skies the whole weekend and it did nothing but rain half the time. One thing to keep in mind is it's going to be about 10 degrees warmer this Slugfest than last!!!!

Let's hope the rain keeps off during the weekend!!!!!

Arriving at Slugfest on Thursday

5 daze until Slugfest 2004.

If you have indicated that you will be arriving on Thursday for Slugfest after 4pm. We would like for you to be aware of the dining arrangements for Thursday. We will not be preparing a meal at the camp until 3am with the cooking of the slingers...

For supper we will be eating AT Mr. D's pizza between 6:30pm and 9pm. Since there are about 20 people arriving Thursday, we would like to give Mr. D's a heads up before we take over the restaurant.

If you have never been to Mr. D's, it serves almost anything Italian. Between pizza, beer, soda and appetizers, 10 dollars should fill you up quite nicely, but we will determine that once we get the bill. Please be aware this meal is not included with your Slugfest donation, and the Slugfest committee will not be paying for it.

Please read the following carefully before you arrive on Thursday :

If you are going to arrive between 4pm and 6:30pm - please head to the camp and check in.

If you are going to arrive between 6:30pm and 9pm - please go to Mr. D's Pizza in Troy to meet up with the group. Directions are below on how to get to Mr. D's. The gate to the camp will be locked during this time, so even if you arrive at camp, you will not be able to drive into the camp site.

If you are going to arrive after 9pm - please head to camp and check in.
To get to Mr. D's Pizza from Hwy 40/61 (follow the directions on the "how to get to slugfest" homepage at www.slugcity.com/slugfest to get to Hwy 40/61.

Go west on Hwy 47 after exiting Hwy 40/61. The next major intersection is Lincoln Drive. Go thru this intersection. Right after Lincoln Drive is a strip mall on your left hand side. In the parking lot of this mall is Pizza Hut. Turn right just after Pizza Hut into the mall. Mr. D's is right beside Home Video and I believe a Dollar General store in the strip mall.

Please read the following carefully.

Slugfest starts at 4pm on Thursday May 27th. Please do not show up to Slugfest 2k4 before this time. You can arrive anytime after 4pm. We will be eating at Mr. D's on Thursday night sometime after 7pm. You will need to pay for this meal, since it's not provided for you at Slugfest.

Cabin assignments - this will be given to you when you arrive at camp. After you arrive, please go to the main rec. building (large building in the center of camp beside the parking lot) to get your info. This will include cabin assignments and other info you will need about the camp.

How do I get to Slugfest? If your not sure how to get to the camp, point your browser to www.slugcity.com/slugfest/ to get directions to Slugfest.

What should I bring to Slugfest? Check this list on www.slugcity.com/slugfest/ on items to bring to Slugfest and what items to leave at home!!!!

1st Annual Slugfeast Cookoff Saturday night - We will be having a cook-off during the Slugfeast on Saturday. Rules and categories are posted on www.slugcity.com and in the forum.

Cell phone coverage - only a few carriers have cell phone coverage at the camp. Remember your in a camp with wooded areas which cells phones hate. To make a call you might have to buddy up with someone who has coverage.

Sports - we have a ton of sports we are going to be playing at Slugfest!!! Bring any sporting equipment you can think of for the weekend!!!

First Annual Slugfest Cook-off

During the slugfeast we will be hosting the first annual Slugfest cook-off.

Here is the skoop.

Categories :

Side Dishes - includes vegetables, dishes such as macaroni and cheese, bread and rolls
Entrees - Meat dishes, stews and soups
Appetizers - homemade dips, finger foods, and vegetable/fruit trays
Store Purchases - anything brought pre made from the store
Desserts - anything to feed our sweet tooth

Rules

We will have three prizewinners for each category, the Grand Prize
being a Slug City cook-off T-shirt. First and Second runner up will receive prize
ribbons with pithy sayings. You may enter as many items as you wish into
each category, but we will not be giving a person more than one prize in
each section. So if you enter in four side dishes you have four chances to
win one prize. We are making extra shirts so a tie results BOTH persons
will receive a prize. Judging will be made by ballot boxes placed around
the mess hall, so please vote! You may vote for anyone you wish but they
are sealed ballots so please vote fairly. Ballots will be counted by the
end of the night so that persons unable to attend all weekend will be able
to hear the winners.

If a winner is not in attendance during the announcement the prizes
will be held in abeyance until the end of the Fest. If the winner does not claim
their prizes by that time it will go to the next runner-up. This is not
done for any other reason except that shipping is costly and we wish for
all attendees to have a fair crack at the prizes.

We ask that everyone using the kitchen facilities be careful and
considerate of you fellow Slugs and to be conscious of the equipment and
sanitation. As was the case last year we do need volunteers for cleaning
afterwards, so if you happen to see a need we appreciate the help.

Confirming Your Registration

All of you should of received your e-mail registration back to you by now. If you have not, please register again for Slugfest 2004, or send an e-mail to slugfest slugcity.com and we will see what went wrong in the process.

There might of been an incorrect e-mail address, maybe the server puked and that's why we didn't get your registration.

In the coming daze, we will be e-mailing your Slugfest 2004 registration back to you. We ask you to look over your registration and check to see if there are any errors. If you find errors, please e-mail slugfest@slugcity.com, or register again with the correct information. If you change information, please use the comment section to say this is your updated registration. If you have not received a copy of your registration by Thursday, May 20th, please re-submit your registration.

When checking over this confirmation, please make sure you have the following information correct :

Donation - make sure your donation amount is correct. Remember you can send your check in early or you can bring your donation to Slugfest. Please see the registration page on where to send your donation in early. We accept check and cash. No credit cards, unless we can swipe them in your ass for verification.

Days and nights spent at Slugfest - make sure you have checked the correct nights and days you will be staying at Slugfest 2k4.
Meals - make sure you have checked the amount of meals you will be eating at Slugfest 2k4.

Covered Dish - make sure you are still brining the covered dish you placed on the registration. You will need to provide all the tools and food to make your dish. We will provide electricity for crock pots if you need it. We also have large ovens if you need to bake anything.

Guests / camp location / other comments - if your brining a guest, make sure this information is correct. If you would like to change camps, please note it on your re-registration. Also please feel free to send us comments thru the registration page.

Theme night Friday, May 28th - This years theme is Pimp and Ho's ball. If you need suggestions on what to wear on theme night, please head over to www.slugcity.com. We have a whole post on what you should bring and wear for the night.

Texas Hold'em Tourney Sunday, May 30th, 1pm - We will be having a poker tourney on Sunday during Slugfest. Entry fee is 25 dollars, and we will be paying out 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

1st Annual Slugfest Cook-off Saturday May 29th - We will be having a cook-off right before the big Slugfeast on Saturday. If you think your better than the Iron Chef on the Food Channel, here is your chance to prove yourself. We will be awarding prizes for the best dish.

If you are coming to Slugfest 2k4, we have some developments you need to be aware of.

Alcohol policy - Slugfest 2k4 is being held at a camp in the state park, so we must look like we are at "camp", not like drunken idiots. These policies were required to reserve the camp, and these rules are in place to ensure the safety of everyone. Please remember, we are on state property, and not someone's back yard.
All alcoholic beverages must be in a plastic cup. All cans must be out of site, but not out of mind. The campsite is a large area. We do not want to leave broken glass, or beer cans all over camp. Keep this rule in mind when drinking.
Beer will be provided for you on Saturday during Slugfest 2k4. All provided alcohol will be Bud and Bud Light cans. If you do not like these choices, we suggest you bring your own alcohol to Slugfest. All alcohol must be in can or plastic at all times. No glass will be brought onto the camp grounds. During all other times, if you wish to drink, you must provide your own alcohol and you must keep it in a plastic cup.

THERE WILL BE NO GLASS AT THE CAMP AT ANY TIME!!!! No Exceptions.

We must have no trouble or incidents during the weekend. If we have a weekend with no incidents, we will have an excellent chance at reserving the camp the same weekend for many years to come. Please think before you act during the extended weekend.
Please pick up after your self. Camp is spread over a large area. We want to make cleanup as easy as possible. We don't want to find glass or cans littered all over the campsite.

Curfew policy - The state park closes at 10pm. If you are driving in the state park after this time, you are subject to an unwanted vehicle stop by park rangers. The park rangers are like crabs, you might forget about them for a while, but they are always there. Our policy is, if you are drinking you cannot leave the camp after 10pm, unless you have a sober driver. Lincoln County is notorious for setting up checkpoints on Memorial Day weekend. We don't want to hear about your 24 hours in jail because you got a DWI driving home.

Car keys policy - When you arrive at camp, you will be expected to turn over your car keys to a designated individual. These will be in a secured lock box. This is to ensure you will not get in your car and drive after 10pm if you have been drinking. You might feel uncomfortable with this policy, but, this is why we are asking you to spend the night. At 9:30pm we will ask everyone who does not have a sober driver or who is not staying at camp to leave for the night. If you have questions about this policy, please send slugfest@slugcity.com your comments and thoughts. If you would like to spend more nights at Slugfest because of this policy, please reply to this e-mail with the nights you will be staying.

Gate Guard Duty - During hours of 7pm to 10pm on Friday thru Sunday nights, there will be someone at the entrance to the camp. This is to ensure we don't have unwelcome visitors. If you have friends coming who have not registered, first ask them to go to the registration page and register. If they have not registered, before entering the camp they will need to be cleared by a Slugfest Planning Committee member. All guests of registered and attending parties must abide by all the rules at all times. There are no exceptions to this.

Future updates - Once Slugfest 2k4 draws near, we will be e-mailing your registration back to you. This is to remind you of the dates you will be attending Slugfest, what side dish you will be bringing and your donation to Slugfest 2k4. If you see an error in your registration, please reply back to the e-mail so we can update your information.

SlugFest 2004 is Official

It's official (once again), Hellraiser has the letter from the State Park, and we are now owners of Camp Sherwood Forest in the State Park, at least for the weekend of Memorial Day 2003.

So mark your calendars for Thursday, 27 MAY - Monday, 31 MAY 2004.

No, that was not a typo....due to popular demand (and other reasons) we reserved the camp for an extra day.

The details and ideas about SlugFest 2004 are still developing, but stay glued to the sight for major announcements, and visit the forums often for ongoing discusssions regarding SlugFest.

Ideas for SlugFest 2K4

Since SlugFest is still fresh in all our minds, please feel free to provide any ideas on how we can improve SlugFest for next year.

A few of us have already discussed buying X-mas lights (when they go on sale after the holidays) to spruce up the Rec. Hall, and to create some mood lighting. Although, if we had less lighting this year, then I'm sure some of you that were rubbing all over each other would have lost some clothing (we all know who I'm talking about!).

So please post some comments, this way we will have an archive of all the ideas. You all have them....so post away!!!
