Today marks 2 months until Slugfest 2K3. Before you know it, Slugfest will be a few weeks away. Planning for this take time and effort. Behind the scenes many faithful slugs have been chatting away on the best way to plan for this event while making sure everyone is happy and enjoys themselves.
Some of the issues that have come up are the following. If you have experience or have ideas, please post them in the comments section.
1) Head Count - how many people will be coming to Slugfest? We have decided to create a signup webpage to reserve you are attending and eating these "x" amount of days. How can we get a good head count of people attending that do not sign up on the webpage?
2) Food - nobody wants to get stuck with the bill on buying all the food, nor does anybody want to ask everybody the whole weekend for money because somebody is being cheap. How do we make sure everybody is paying for the food that they eat?
3) Lodging - this goes along the same lines as food. Slugfest will not be free this year like other Slugfests. The camp this year is rented and will require a small "party fee" for the use of the camp during the weekend. How do we make sure everybody is paying for their part?

Friday, 23 May - Pre-Party / Camp Check-in (@ Camp Slug)
Saturday, 24 May - SLUGFEST !!!!!!! (@ Camp Slug)
Sunday, 25 May - Post-Party (@ Camp Slug)
Monday, 26 May - Clean up / Check Out (@ Camp Slug)
Excellent post....you've addressed several of the "key" area's that have been up in the air, and we've been unable to resolve.
Getting an accurate head count is essential to the planning this year. While we realize that not everyone checks the site on a regular basis, and some not at all (although they REALLY should). If you know of people that will be attending that have not mentioned that they are, or if you are planning on inviting other "cool" people to the event this year, please speak up. Either by posting a comment, or emailing natas or myself, and we can compile a list of attendees. (natas or jailbird "at" slugcity.com)
Truthfully, right now we have no idea how many people plan on coming. As the faithful readers of this page know, this is gearing up to be the best slugfest yet, and will raise the bar for all slugfests to come. So spread the word !!!!!
Our best guess is that we will have 40 - 50+ attending this year, and the logistics involved with housing and possibly feeding that many people is more involved than one would think.
So please speak up, tell your friends, buddies, etc... and if anyone knows any hookers, tell them as well. The more hookers the better.

The base fee? I'll have to get back with you on that. The problem is there is a charge per camper per night (as per the state park), and there is a minimum occupancy as well. We can have fewer people than the minimum, but we'll still have to may the minimum amount. The price all depends on how many people come to the event. The more there is, the cheaper it will be. So that's why we've been beating everyone to get an idea of who is attending.

If we are planning on having a meal schedule I would suggest having some type of meal friday night, maybe 2 meals saturday, and some type of meal sunday morning (If anyone is coherent ehough to cook.
If we schedule we can set a menu, and by food accordingly. This may be the most cost efficent way, because then everyone could sign up to bring an item or 2 from a list.
Please post your thoughts on this.

I think the meals Jailbird talked about will be good and will have the most people eating them. Saturday will be the big meal, and if that's the "noon meal", we can probably have left overs for supper. I have a good breakfast idea on Sunday that I will make on Saturday, so on Sunday morning all we need to do is place it in the oven.
